From the Director Desk
It's hard to believe it's May already. We have been enjoying the weather, and having students back in our classrooms, even for a short time. Thank you to all of the parents who have been following our new policies and procedures, and for patience in the Hybrid model with teachers connecting with students in-person AND on-line.
As we approach the end of the year, we will be reaching out to everyone to ensure you are registered either for Kindergarten or to return to preschool. We also want to make sure you have whatever resources you might need over the summer to continue learning. Let us know how we can help!
If you haven't already, please go to this website https://southcountyevc.org/ to get signed up for a vaccine. Thank you to the CERTS and volunteers who are making this vaccination clinic possible.
If you are interested in being a part of the EVC communications team, email me for the registration form to get a free GMRS radio. This is a great way to get involved in the emergency preparedness efforts in our community. We are looking for Neighborhood and Team Captains as well!
Finally, the results from our Child Care survey are in. We only have two families who have expressed needing some form of before/after or summer child care. To cover staff in the classrooms and kitchen, as well as utilities, etc. it would be cost prohibitive to operate a child care at this time. The board of directors and I want to assure everyone this is a temporary decision, and not taken lightly. I will maintain our license with the Child Care Division, as well as our long-standing 501c3 non-profit status. We look forward to when we can add back our infants/toddlers and be able to accommodate working families needs. If anyone is considering opening a licensed in-home child care, please have them contact me. It is not as hard as you might think to set up, and could be a great way to generate income at home. The more high quality child care options in our community, the better!
This July, our staff will be working at the elementary school in summer and kinder camp programs, and in August, our backyard will be under construction with the addition of rubber ground over, and a large play structure! We also plan to extend our fence in the back, and improve our garden space along with Food Roots. We look forward to 2021/22 and all of the changes it brings!
As always, reach out with any questions!
